PODS Phoenix comes to the aid of WWII veteran during home renovation

Moving and storage company partners with nonprofit to help others

March 15, 2012 - PRLog -- When Stacy Binder, business development manager of three Arizona PODS moving and storage franchises, received word that a WWII veteran and Phoenix homeowner, Jon Walrath, had been chosen to receive a complete home makeover from Angels on Call (AOC), she stepped up to help.

Binder made a call to project organizers at AOC and donated the use of PODS® containers to safely store Mr. Walrath’s personal belongings while his aging home receives much-needed renovations. Binder’s offer came just in the nick of time as the roof of Mr. Walrath’s home had literally just caved in, leaving the structure uninhabitable and his furniture and belongings exposed and vulnerable.

The Phoenix Extreme Home Makeover project, which is currently in progress, is an annual program sponsored by Angels on Call (AOC), an affiliate of Stardust Nonprofit Building Supplies. Each year, AOC provides a large scale home renovation project to one worthy Maricopa County resident who is chosen from a field of qualified applicants who are unable to afford home repairs.

“Mr. Walrath proudly served his country during WWII and now PODS Phoenix is proud to serve him in return,” said Binder. “It’s our honor to partner with AOC and provide secure storage while the home rebuild project is taking place.”

The Extreme Makeover Project will continue for several weeks with the big “reveal” tentatively scheduled for March 22, 2012.
