The Sagoracs received the award at the chamber’s monthly Fort Myers luncheon on February 21st. They were nominated for demonstrating their compassion and caring for their community by holding regular salon events to benefit local charities. In November 2011, they exceeded all previous fundraisers with an event honoring a client who suffers from Lou Gehrig’s (ALS) Disease. The salon staged a Guinness Book of World Records challenge, brought in an official Guinness judge from London, got all their stylists and stylist assistants on board, and reached out to their clients and the community at large to help. On November 6th, they succeeded in setting a record for the most haircuts by a salon team in 8 hours. They charged only $8 for haircuts and donated 100% of the proceeds, raising $4,000 for the Florida ALS Association. The ALS Association is just one of many charities Cre8 Salon & Spa supports throughout the year; others include the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Abuse Counseling & Treatment, the PACE Center for Girls, and Susan G. Komen.
“You’re always giving back, and this is just a small way for the Above Board Chamber to recognize that and say thank you,” Chamber President Jeanne Sweeney told the Sagoracs when she presented them with the award.
