PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 27, 2012 - Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center’s 3rd Annual  Men Who Cook fund and friend raising event will dish up fun, food and friendship Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Norfolk Masonic Temple, 7001 Granby St.

“Men Who Cook offers a unique dining and dancing experience,” said Lynne Berg, executive director of Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center.  “Twenty-five local amateur chef teams pair up to show off their culinary skills and prepare their specialty dishes. City councilmen Andy Protogyrou and Tommy Smigiel, and teams from local fire stations and television news will be on hand to cook up their favorite recipes.”

After the chefs rush to make last minute preparations, guests sample a wide variety of specialties – from scallops wrapped in bacon to Brunswick stew.  A panel of female judges will tally votes and determine the winners of categories, including Tantalizing Taste Bud, Dynamic Chef Duo, Most Likely to Make in My Own Kitchen, and People’s Choice awards. Rowena Fullinwider has been designated as the honorary chairwomen of the judge’s panel. As guests taste the savory samples, the Jim Newsom Quartet will provide entertainment.

Tickets for Men Who Cook are $40 per person ($50 at the door), or $150 for four.  Admission includes sampling of chef’s dishes, a ticket for an adult beverage and door prize registration.

Primeplus needs volunteers and support from sponsors to help make this year’s Men Who Cook event an even bigger success!  Anyone interested in tickets, volunteering or sponsorships should call (757) 625-5857 or visit www.primeplus.org.
