By: Peg Rafferty At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, the admissions director, social service director and resident services director of Smith Crossing at 10501 Emilie Lane in Orland Park will present a program on how to deal with challenging behaviors. They will discuss such behaviors as sleep disturbances, physical or verbal outbursts, emotional distress, restlessness, pacing, yelling, delusions and hallucinations. The next Tuesday, March 6, Smith Village at 2320 W. 113th Place in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood will have a program at 6:30 p.m. centering on a daughter’s insight into Alzheimer’s disease. Moderated by memory support coordinator Diane Morgan, the session will begin with a movie, “Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter.” The free hour-long gatherings at both continuing care retirement communities are open to the public and families of Smith residents.
