London Home To New Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- A new Dale Chihuly sculpture entitled "Torchlight Chandelier" has been unveiled in London in honor of the upcoming 2012 Olympics. The massive glass work of art weighs nearly 1400 lbs and stands nearly 20 feet high. The sculpture is made up of 350 organically shaped glass elements. The shape of each piece of glass is unique from all other shapes - a commonly encountered theme in Chihuly's organically inspired art glass creations. In addition the "Torchlight Chandelier" sculpture is illuminated nightly rendering it an exceedingly impressive and staggeringly beautiful spectacle after dark. This wonderful sculpture serves as a fitting tribute to the spirit of the Olympic games and the incredible achievements of the world's most accomplished athletes. The dazzling combination of unique shapes, colors and light celebrate the rich diversity that is at the heart of the Olympic games. The sculpture will remain in London's Park Lane until after the 2012 Olympics end at which point it will be placed on display at another location.
