By: ToMax Talks Emma Bridgewater reflects on her experience at her factory in Stoke-on-Trent and talks about the importance of a workforce to a healthy community. She is critical of the pace of welfare cuts as concerns the West Midlands; her recent charity initiative in Stoke is aimed at combating the high levels of unemployment. William Alsop, the mind behind many of Britain's controversial modernist buildings, will talk about the influence a building can have on community. Alsop was recently commissioned to draw up a ‘Bradford City master plan’, which proposes redesigning the city center into a park which makes use of the topography of the land and turns the city center into a source of pride for Bradford . The Observer commented that Alsop's approach to architecture could broadly be defined by his statement: "I like people. I hope it shows." Naomi Colvin will voice the concerns of the Occupy Movement and explain why Britain is not as democratic as it claims. The talks will take place in The Doodle Bar, where the walls are a blank blackboard canvas. There will be gourmet burgers supplied by Street Kitchen at the evening.
