DeWAL Satisfies Demanding Requirements with 3 New UHMW-PE Products

Feb. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- NARRAGANSETT, RI, Jan. 31. 2012 — DeWAL Industries has introduced two skived, thin-gage UHMW-PE (Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene) tapes and a UHMW-PE film.

Joining DeWAL’s line of over one hundred UHMW-PE and PTFE tapes and films, these three new cutting edge products offer manufacturers additional opportunities for production quality and efficiency.

DW 400 is an extremely abrasion-resistant UHMW-PE film that has been put through a proprietary densification process, giving it outstanding tensile strength of 21,000 psi (144.79 mpa), particularly important for hoses, rubber belting and chute linings. It can be black or transparent.

DW 423-5EZ is an addition to the DW 423 series, used by all American auto manufacturers and hundreds of general industry manufacturers around the world. DW 423 is a pressure-sensitive UHMW-PE tape with an aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive. New DW 423-5EZ has no release liner. It has an easy unwind and no liner to discard.

DW 424-4 is an optically clear UHMW-PE tape, similar to DW 400 but with a permanent acrylic adhesive. It is offered in rolls on release liner.  Like DW 400, it is often used in hostile environments. It is in particular demand for labeling over laminate where durable abrasion and chemical resistance are required.

DeWAL UHMW tapes and films are used in a broad array of applications from auto squeak-and-rattle tape to chemical and hydraulic hose liners. Because UHMW has a low coefficient of friction and exhibits excellent physical, chemical, mechanical and abrasion resistance properties, it is often also used in sliding bearing applications, belting, static dissipation and friction-reduction layers.
