Top Rated Oregon Talk Show Host Calls For States To Nullify NDAA

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Following a stunning announcement on his show Ground Zero Tuesday night, talk show host Clyde Lewis is announcing his call for states, nationwide, to leverage the 10th Amendment “NULLIFICATION” process to stop the unconstitutional loss of our rights.

“The NDAA is blatantly unconstitutional and is the greatest threat to our civil rights to have been brought against the American people.” Commented Lewis, the host of Ground Zero Radio, a talk show broadcast nightly from Portland Oregon based KXL FM.  He continued, “We must stop this, and ‘NULLIFICATION’ is the way to do it.”

The National Defense Authorization Act or NDAA which was recently signed into law on December 31, 2011 by President Obama  was discovered to have several provisions which make it possible for the United States government to indefinitely retain United States citizens with out due process – a move so stunning that it lead The Guardian newspaper to proclaim “without trial [of] American terrorism suspects arrested on US soil who could then be shipped to Guantánamo Bay."

Opponents of the new law include a stunning variety of organizations ranging from ACLU, Amnesty International, Human Rights First, Human Rights Watch and The Center for Constitutional Rights, and was roundly criticized by editorials published in The New York Times amongst others. But one of the ever-present issues is how to stop the expansion of powers created by this document?  

It is the danger of abuse which lead Clyde Lewis to search for a solution, and now Mr. Lewis is calling for support from around the country to find state legislators who are willing to  sponsor state based legislation to engage the 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution in order to “Nullify” this blatantly illegal and damaging new law.  

The 10th Amendment specifically states “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Which has long been interpreted to mean that the Federal Government is limited in its power to powers provided directly by the constitution as seen in this quote from United States vs. Darby – “The amendment states but a truism that all is retained which has not been surrendered. There is nothing in the history of its adoption to suggest that it was more than declaratory of the relationship between the national and state governments as it had been established by the Constitution before the amendment or that its purpose was other than to allay fears that the new national government might seek to exercise powers not granted, and that the states might not be able to exercise fully their reserved powers.....”

Mr. Lewis is now calling for state legislators and United States citizens to come forward and back legislation and enact laws to “nullify” the NDAA in every state in the United States.  “We need the help of legislators to make this happen.  We need state legislators who have the bravery and conviction to stop this, and those Legislators need our support..” remarked Mr. Lewis, he went on to say “there have to be Legislators out there who are just as frightened of this as we are and they need to come forward, NOW, before its too late.”
