Acquistion of Edenwall identity-based firewall technology, boosts NETASQ’s Security Offering

Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- London, January 24th 2012. Network security pioneer and innovator NETASQ has today announced the acquisition of EdenWall Technologies, a French security vendor of leading edge identity-based firewall connection filtering solutions.  NETASQ plans to integrate some innovative aspects of the acquired technology into its own solutions, providing companies and public sector organisations, with what it believes to be the most robust and powerful network security on the market today.

“This acquisition is in line with our strategy to expand the functional perimeter of network security solutions – responding to users’ needs by going beyond the conventional idea of authentication. The concepts of filtering by identity and firewalls authenticating by connection seem particularly consistent with our proactive approach to the security of tomorrow’s networks,” said François Lavaste, NETASQ’s president. “It would have been a real pity to stand by and watch this innovative technology disappear without doing something, as it is the fruit of a talented team’s years of labour.”

EdenWall Technologies’ solution relied, in part, on the NuFW and NuFirewall projects, revived in late November 2011 by the FSF (Free Software Foundation) France: http://www.ufwi.org.

After the legal liquidation of EdenWall Technologies was pronounced in August 2011 by the Commercial Court of Paris (Tribunal de Commerce de Paris), NETASQ successfully applied to take over its tangible and intangible assets, including EdenWall’s technology, but with the exception of Prelude, the security information and event management solution.
