Jan. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- North Providence – LIFEcycle, Inc., a Rhode Island-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to treat cancer in the state, is hosting the fourth annual Ride ‘Round Rhody (RRR) on August 12 in Wakefield.  The goal of the event is to promote cancer awareness and raise more than $50,000 for cancer treatment at local hospitals. RRR organizers are expecting more than 125 riders at this year’s ride.

The event encourages participation from people of all abilities from the casual rider to the advanced cyclist. This year’s ride offers three options to choose from – 25, 50 and 75 miles in length along the scenic roads of southern Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut starting and finishing at Camp JORI, 1065 Wordens Pond Road, Wakefield, RI. Amateur cycling team, Threshold Cycling, of Boston will be providing support along the route.

Early registration for the ride is now open at a cost of just $75 per rider until January 31. Registration increases to $80 from February 1 through April 30, and $85 from May 1 through July 31. Registration will be available the day of the event for $180 per rider. All riders will receive a custom three-pocket, zippered Ride ‘Round Rhody 2012 cycling jersey to be worn during the ride and kept as a souvenir, along with other items such as a water bottle and cinch bag.

All riders are encouraged to set a goal of $250 or more, and all riders are expected to raise or donate at least $100 in support of their effort. It is this fundraising effort that allows your participation to have such a tremendous impact on the community.

New for 2012, LIFEcycle is offering a team competition. Teams can be formed by either local companies or be groups of friends looking to support LIFEcycle’s mission. The teams with the most participation points will be honored after the ride with a donation made in their name to a local cancer center which the team can help select. The top individual fundraisers will also be recognized with prizes after the ride and will be invited to participate in a check presentation ceremony at local cancer centers.

Volunteers are also needed to help in a variety of roles in order to ensure a successful, safe and fun event for all participants. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and goodie bag.

LIFEcycle, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Dani Sahner Brier and Jacob S. N. Brier to localize efforts to support healthcare. The first three RRR events have seen more than $75,000 raised from approximately 800 donors in support of 196 riders. All rider-raised funds have gone to support pediatric and adult cancer treatment at local hospitals.
