New SonaVision Wireless Video Security System Catches Car Thief in Real-Time

“What sets SonaVision’s system apart from a conventional alarm system is that it sends real-time video to a 24-hour monitoring station,” said John Ray, III, president of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale.

Jan. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- A popular automobile rental company’s car lot may have seemed a tempting target, but when a thief tried stealing a truck recently, real-time video security monitoring ensured that police were ready to prevent his escape.

Just before midnight, a man walked onto the suburban Fort Lauderdale car lot, where  Sonitrol’s new wireless SonaVision verified video intrusion security system had been installed.  Sonitrol’s central station operator received a motion-activated signal and watched live video images of the intruder walking freely around the fenced-in lot.  After looking into several vehicles, the thief entered one of the trucks in an apparent attempt to drive away with it.

Sonitrol’s central station operator was able to confirm for officers that this was a lone intruder.  While the thief tried hot-wiring the vehicle, police quickly put a perimeter in place, including K-9 and aviation units.  Trying to flee, the thief jumped over the fence, only to find an officer waiting to arrest him.

“For law enforcement, it’s crucial to immediately know if they’re dealing with an  incident in progress or with a false alarm,” said John Ray, III, president of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale.  “What sets SonaVision’s system apart from a conventional alarm system is that it sends real-time video to a 24-hour monitoring station,” he added.  “Our central station operator can verify activity and also provide valuable, sometimes life-saving information about the situation.”

Incorporating a motion detector and camera lens in one unit, the new wireless SonaVision system is economical to install and can easily be moved throughout a property, to protect assets that may traditionally have been out of reach.  Ray said the system provides wireless carrier service and does not impinge on customers’ bandwidth or phone systems.
