New Song Animation “I HAVE A DREAM” Teaches Children About The Message of MLK Day

This MLK Day, here’s one video you might really like your kids to watch and learn from.  It’s an animation of a popular children’s song written by a multicultural performer who has travelled the world to sing for peace.  Along with being an exciting new animation, the I HAVE A DREAM song is also a free mp3 download on the performer’s website – located at www.dariamusic.com.

So what is the I HAVE A DREAM song?  It was released in 2004 as part of DARIA’s NAPPA Award-winning children’s music cd and has since been used in classrooms, churches, schools and civic organizations as part of the celebration of MLK Day. Says composer and performer, DARIA: “I wanted to find a way to put the ideas and messages from that famous speech into a simple, singable form to reach even the youngest listener. I wrote the song; I HAVE A DREAM, because MLK was such a big influence in my life.  It’s really exciting to see how decades after MLK’s work, people are still being inspired by his message and making a difference with their desire to serve.”  

The animation is simple and sweet and shares some of the most powerful quotes from MLK’s speeches such as: “ I have decided to stick with love.  Hatred is too great a burden to bear.” And “ Life’s most urgent question: what are you doing for others?”.  The song animation was created by Dave Barnis; a talented young artist and animator from the Philadelphia area and can be viewed on Youtube or on DARIA’s special VIMEO channel for children’s song animations, located at: www.vimeo.com/dariamusic .
