Follow on Google News | Southwest Airlines Made Alberta Reid Miss Her Flight And Cruise Causing Her Lots Of Stress & Money.Alberta Reid kept telling the luggage handler that the bags with the liquids would not be allowed with her on the plane. He was more worried about saving her money then helping her to catch her plane on time!
By: Claude Reid Jr On Saturday, November 19, 2011, Mrs. Reid had her boarding pass with her, but a lot of time was spent arguing with the luggage handler about saving her money. She had plenty of time to board the plane, but the bag that the luggage handler made her keep was the very bag that prevented her from making her flight on time. written & Edited by Claude Reid Jr, Jerome Reid & Eugenia Reid claudereid2007@ She had three bags that she needed to check in. Mrs. Reid paid for one bag and wanted to pay for the second one since she had Victoria Secret lotion, hair cream, soap, detergent and perfume in the bag. The bag handler told her that he would help her to transfer all the liquids into another bag. Mrs. Reid was willing to pay for the second luggage that would cost her a total of $100.00. He kept arguing with her and kept telling her that he knew what he was doing for he had been working there for twelve years and he was trying to save her money. During all this time arguing with Mrs. Reid he wasted lots of valuable time. She told him that she wanted to carry only her purse on the plane with her because her purse would be the only bag that would be allowed on the plane, but he kept walking and ignoring her request. She kept telling him the bag with the liquids would not be allowed with her on the plane. He did not take the liquids, lotion, hair products, and perfumes, but left them with Mrs. Reid to take on the plane with her, even though she told him they would not be allowed on the plane. He kept telling her he wanted to save her money. She kept telling him she did not care about the lousy fifty dollars he was trying to save her. When she went through security, they had to throw away a lot of her products, because the luggage handler did not do his job. Wasting more time and money throwing away unnecessary items in addition to holding her back and eventually causing her to miss her flight. Security threw away over $125.00 worth of products and all the products was brand new never been opened. This causes Mrs. Reid to miss her flight. she told him she was willing to pay for the extra bag. It would have only been $100.00 out of her pocket. The bag that caused her to miss her flight was still with her, she did not make her flight. This was so upsetting and very disappointing to Mrs. Reid, one of her sons, daughter and grand kids who she was suppose to meet on her cruise that was paid for by her son Jerome & daughter Eugenia, especially when she told the guy she wanted to pay extra money for her luggage. This was not his luggage it was Mrs. Reid's Luggage. He knew how much time she had. Her son & daughter flies on southwest airlines every year and they said they never experienced so much stress with southwest until now. She missed her flight and cruise, which wasn’t refundable. her cruise was for 5 nights and 6 days. Her daughter & son had to try to schedule another flight to fly her in to Ochoa Rios, Jamaica and that didn’t work out. Finally Mrs. Reid's kids were able to schedule her another flight. They had to put her in a hotel in Grand Cayman and fly her there. She only spent one day and a half out of the original 5 days on her cruise, again because the luggage handler was not doing his Job. For a person who worked for the airlines for twelve years did a terrible job, then how bad of a job would someone do who has been working their for three months to a year? Anyone would expect professionalism from a person who has been working for an airlines for one month let a lone twelve years and should know what items are allowed and not allowed. The hotel cost more then double of how much the luggage handler tried to save her and how much she gave him to handle her luggage. Her two sons were very stressed out as well. They had been communicating with the flight agent and with one another via e-mail to cut down on international phone charges. The internet connection was very slow, because one of her sons, Jerome was on the cruise communicating with his travel agent and his brother Claude in La Grange, IL, so they didn't get much sleep trying to get her another flight and making sure she could meet with her family at the next cruise stop. This is not an idea vacation! She spent much more money then what the luggage handler was trying to save her. Mrs. Reid said that after all this happened Southwest told her that they would have made sure that she made her flight if she would have purchased insurance! Southwest want their customers to spend extra money on insurance in order for them to treat us like customers? After the first initial phone call, southwest told Mrs. Reid to file a complaint via an e-mail form on their website and she did just so. You would think after many phone calls and many e-mails, southwest would hold up to their promise of investigating and solving this terrible issue? No, they did no such thing of what they promised Mrs. Reid, in fact she never heard from them after the first phone call. This is why southwest employees treats people like crap, because they know they will get away with it. End
