Dec. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The African American Voice in Classical Music on BlogTalk Radio celebrates its one year anniversary today (12/15/10).  Hosted by Patrick D. McCoy, the aim of the show is to highlight classical music performers, with occasional excursions into other mediums of the performing arts such as theater and dance.  The show had an unexpected beginning.

"I was trying to share some information to several media outlets about classical musicians, particularly African Americans in the genre and was met with rejection.  It was then that I realized that BlogTalk Radio was the perfect platform for me to have an audience to share my love for classical music with.  I opened the account in August, but never did anything with it until December 2010." said McCoy.

The first guest of the show was Julian Wachner, music director of the The Washington Chorus.  Since then, McCoy created several distinct series on the show, which have featured several internationally acclaimed classical artists.  Those series are as follows:

The Trailblazer Series
Icons in classical music and the performing arts that paved the way for other artists to enjoy success in their respective medium.

--George Shirley and Leona Mitchell

The Maestro Series
A series dedicated to the great conductors of choral and orchestra repertoire in the church, concert or academic setting.

--Stanley Engebretson and Andre Thomas

The King of Instruments

Celebrity Series
A series dedicated to performers who are known outside the boundaries of classical music.

--Denyce Graves and Richard Smallwood

The Opera Diva Series
A series dedicated to the leading ladies of the opera stage.

--Carmen Balthrop, Christine Brewer, Angela M. Brown, Nicole Cabell, Marquita Lister,   and Sarah Coburn

I Too. Sing America Series
