The Caring Canvas Visits Children in the Dominican Republic for the Holidays

On December 17, 2011 The Caring Canvas is traveling to the Dominican Republic to visit with 200 children and spread artful cheer during the holiday season with a FREE day of painting, singing, dancing and crafting.

Dec. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- (Middletown, NJ): This holiday season, The Caring Canvas, a premier traveling art gallery that combines fine art with philanthropy founded by Laura Brunetti, will be traveling to the Dominican Republic on Saturday, December 17th to share the love of art with 200 children in Santo Domingo. This trip will benefit Ninos Cristianos En Accion, a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to serving the children and adults in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Laura Brunetti of Wayside, NJ, Susan Belfer of Middletown, NJ and Native American actor Roger "Crazy Wolf" will be representing The Caring Canvas to engage the children with a full day of art, music, dance, laughter and friendship. Special holiday gifts will be given to each child as well.

The NCA was founded in 1995 by a devoted Pastor who while visiting the Dominican Republic was approached by a couple of children asking for money to buy food. Immediately after, he established this foundation in Miami, Florida. He quickly returned to meet with DR President Balaguer, at which time the foundation was given its presidential decree #184-95 and is now recognized as a non-profit foundation in the Dominican Republic. Supporters of NCA in the Miami area send items to NCA such as clothes, shoes, toys, school supplies, baby items, vitamins, wheelchairs, educational materials, etc. NCA also supports El Meson De Dios in the Dominican Republic, a rehab center that helps young adults who suffer from addictions to get them off the streets and rehabilitate them to become better citizens and help serve as role models to others who are afflicted with these diseases. Co-founder Zoe Prieto of Hialeah, Florida will also be participating in The Caring Canvas weekend with the NCA children.

One of the most creative humanitarians in New Jersey, Laura Brunetti, founded The Caring Canvas and has had unstoppable success with her art exhibits and community projects. Laura Brunetti's 'The Caring Canvas' project travels to several remote destinations in New Jersey and Florida - with more locations to be added soon. Laura's first year with producing The Caring Canvas included a FREE summer art camp in August 2011 for the children of Asbury Park located at the Asbury Park Transportation Center. Art supplies, food and refreshments were provided on camp days. Light music inspired the children as they painted, sketched, sculpted and wrote poetry. This also served as a mentoring camp to help guide at-risk youth to think positively about their futures - to remind them that 'anything is possible'. Laura sparked more than their imaginations - she ignited hope, friendship and self-confidence. The Caring Canvas displayed their art temporarily at the AP Transportation Center and was privileged to have exhibited at the highly-acclaimed Art629 Gallery of Asbury Park. Now, Laura gives to the city of Asbury Park a permanent installation of Miami Artist Josignacio's original masterpiece, 8 foot by 9 foot triptych painting 'Tree of Life' valued at $180,000. The Caring Canvas exists to change lives...one stroke at a time.
