Jodi LaBossiere of Orange County, CA, has recently been awarded the Ms. California America 2012 title by the Ms. America Organization. The Ms. America Organization is open to women 26 and over, and celebrates the accomplishments of women, and encourages them to be involved in community service, as well as using the “Crown for a purpose” to make a difference.

Ms. California America had numerous applicants. The selection process was done by submitting an application and photo, and followed up by an interview process. “Jodi really left an impression, and we are excited to have her represent California at the upcoming Ms. America National Finals next March”, says Susan Jeske C.E.O.

At 42 years of age, Jodi LaBossiere is still a successful swimwear model for Ujena Swimwear.  She has been on the cover of many magazines, and has appeared in Vista Print Calendars that have sold more then 241 millions copies world wide!  She has appeared in many popular TV shows like ABC’s GeneralHospital, Blind Justice, Entertainment Tonight, Bay Watch, and serves as a guest host on Shop NBC for AminoGenesis Skin Care.

Although Jodi makes everything she does appear effortless, she actually struggles daily with Celiac Disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH).  Celiac disease affects 1 in 133 people in America, and of those approximately 15 -25% suffer from the DH.  Dermatitis Herpetiformis is an extremely itchy rash made of bumps and blisters. The rash is chronic, which means it continues over a long period of time.  Not a pretty look for a woman who’s career has been built around beauty!

“Having Celiac Disease has actually helped me in many ways”, says Jodi.  I approach the rest of my life with the same discipline and determination I have to have in living with the disease”.  By exercising regularly and sticking to a strict wheat and gluten free diet Jodi lowers her chances of secondary diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Lymphoma, and Alzheimer’s  all of which can become a reality if Celiac is left untreated.

Jodi said “Being diagnosed with Celiac made me take a hard look at how I live my life!  Now I eat to live (Not the other way round), and I got back into running! In fact in the past year I have gotten much faster, and took  almost 20 minutes off my 15K time as I work towards my goal of becoming a national class runner for my age group!

The Ms. America Pageant will be held 7:30 PM March 18th 2012 at the Doubletree Suites By Hilton Anaheim Resort / Convention Center hotel which is located 2 blocks from Disneyland® Park and Disney's California Adventure® Park.
