Kansas City Data Center Invests In Cutting Edge Network Infrastructure

Arsalon Technologies Builds Dark Fiber Network in the Kansas City Metro Area

PRLog - Dec. 3, 2011 - LENEXA, Kan. -- Arsalon Technologies, LLC, a Kansas-based data center provider has just completed the development of its own dark fiber network in the Kansas City metro area. This unique data center investment in network infrastructure will offer another layer of reliability, redundancy and unlimited high capacity bandwidth to Arsalon’s clients. The data center industry has experienced rapid growth due to the increasing demand for hosting utilities.

Connecting Arsalon’s three data centers with a dedicated dark fiber network forms the foundation for future strategic fiber builds. Arsalon’s dark fiber network circles the greater Kansas City Metro area, covering both sides of the state line between Kansas and Missouri. The fiber ring spans approximately 45 miles and reaches from Kansas City International Airport in Platte County, Missouri to College Boulevard in Johnson County, Kansas. The new dark fiber network is constructed in a ringed topography for added security and reliability. It is also able to connect to clients’ existing physical networks throughout the city.

Arsalon consulted with Zayo Group, headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, to design and implement their new custom dark fiber network. This Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network delivers fully redundant pathways with recovery times in milliseconds versus seconds. The scalable Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) solution has the potential for up to 40 channels and data transfer rates of 400 gigabits per second across a single 10G fiber optic cable.

“Arsalon Technologies is pleased to announce the implementation of a new city wide dark fiber network. With this large footprint we can now offer our customers high speed connections to any of our data centers to meet their needs, ranging from real-time data replication for disaster recovery, to moving all of their enterprise data center needs to our world class data centers,” said Arsalon’s co-founder Bryan Porter.  “By utilizing this network to connect our data centers at 10Gb speeds we will be able to broaden or cloud computing services with real time failover options for clients who have higher end requirements for uptime. This opens a new level of services we can provide across the Kansas City area.”

Based in Lenexa, Kansas, privately owned Arsalon Technologies, LLC (www.arsalon.net) is a national provider of enterprise class data center facilities.
