DoItTennis.com Adds Adidas Barricade 7.0 to Fall Lineup

One of the first things you are likely to notice about the latest Barricade is its distinctively designed outsole. It appears after a quick glance that it comes in two separate pieces with a smaller, elliptically-shaped section in the heel area and a larger elliptically-shaped forefoot section. There is actually a small rectangular piece that connects these two sections, making the outsole a one-piece component like any other, albeit with a different shape.

Durability is another factor in the design of the outsole; so much so that it comes with a 6 month warranty. The material uses adiWEAR technology and the forefoot uses a pivot point to prevent wear in that area. Its herringbone pattern can be worn on any type of surface.

In addition to the pivot point, there are several other components in the Adidas Barricade 7.0's design to facilitate players who spend considerable time with their weight on the front of the foot. The adiPRENE+ insert increases cushioning in the forefoot, while the claw area in the forefoot area of the outsole gives added stability. There is also a flex groove in the forefoot, allowing the shoe to bend more freely in that area.

Another innovation in the shoe's design is the totally seamless construction of the upper. All the components are bonded together without using any stitching. The seamless design combined with the TPU in the toe area and the adiTUFF technology make the upper more durable than in previous Barricade models.

Another improvement in the Adidas Barricade 7.0 is that it is one ounce lighter than the 6.0. This allows for easier movement and less fatigue during competition. Other components were designed with comfort in mind. Stability comes from the TORSION system in the midsole as well as the extended stability chassis system. Cushioning is provided from the aforementioned adiPRENE+ insert in the forefoot as well as the adiPRENE insert in the heel and an EVA insole.

The shoe comes in white with black and red trim in the men's model and white with light blue trim in the women's model. The traditional three-stripes are stitched on the sides. From the side view, the most prominent feature is the outrigger component with the 'claws' in the forefoot area.
