Colorado Symphony makes the season bright with Colorado Christmas

Nov. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- The wonders of the holidays begin on Friday, December 9 as the Colorado Symphony opens its holiday music season with a cherished Denvertradition: Colorado Christmas. This season, the Colorado Symphony is delighted to present five performances of Colorado Christmas, including the recently-added performance on Sunday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m. A joyful festive tradition that is best enjoyed with friends and family, Colorado Christmas features the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Symphony Chorus, and Colorado Children’s Chorale. This year, Colorado Christmas shines the spotlight on both the Colorado Children’s Chorale Tour Choir and Concert Choir, whose members take center stage during many pieces in these merry-making concerts. Tickets for Colorado Christmas – a heartwarming tradition that gives special meaning to the holiday season – are on sale now and start from $25.

At Colorado Christmas, audiences enjoy the enchantment of traditional Christmas carols, winter classics and contemporary holiday songs featuring the beautiful, combined voices of the Chorus and Children’s Chorale. Audiences are also invited to sing-a-long to uplifting holiday songs at this concert for people of all ages. Plus, a certain merry someone will travel all the way from the North Pole to make a guest appearance and have photos taken with children at the two matinee performances. Say "Ho, Ho, Ho" to Santa, beginning at 1 p.m. in the lobby on Saturday and Sunday.

Photos with Santa: Santa Claus will greet you at Boettcher Concert Hall one hour prior to the two matinee performances: Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11. (Both matinee concerts begin at 2:30 p.m.

About the Colorado Children’s Chorale

For more than three decades, the Colorado Children’s Chorale has brought its artistry and charm to audiences throughout the world. With a diverse repertoire ranging from fully staged opera and musical theater to standard choral compositions in classical, folk and popular traditions, the Chorale performs with an innovative stage presentation and a unique theatrical spirit. In recognition of its artistic excellence, the Chorale was awarded the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts and the prestigious El Pomar Award for Excellence in Arts and Humanities.

Under the leadership of artistic director Deborah DeSantis and executive director Diane Newcom, the Chorale annually trains 500 members between the ages of seven and 14. The Chorale’s performance program includes a series of self-produced concerts, numerous performances with other arts organizations in Colorado, and touring around the world. In addition to the performance program, the Chorale’s mission includes an extensive education program, which was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant and received an Education/Outreach Award from Chorus America.
