Oct. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- HOLBROOK, N.Y. – New York editing software and technology are put to good use as video editors have the right tools to complete their projects. The same can be said for local schools as they are beginning to bring new technology and their multiple uses into the classroom.

The iPad has become more popular since its release in April 2010. It hasn’t been two years on the market and already the benefits of the device are growing, especially with the release of the iPad 2. Apple officials have announced that more than 600 school districts are moving toward lightweight tablet computers instead of the heavy, and numerous, textbooks.

The districts that are taking advantage of the iPad’s many benefits are launching what the schools are calling “one-on-one” programs. These programs allow for at least one classroom of students to receive an individual iPad for each student that they will be allowed to use during their regular school day.

With multiple functions already preinstalled on the iPad such as email, calendar, video and GPS applications, the iPad is ready to be used once it’s plugged in. But the iPad functionality doesn’t end there, the App Store, which is also preinstalled, delivers iPad users thousands of other programs for free or for a small fee.

Of these 600 districts, two-thirds have already begun using the program since July of this year.

What are some of the benefits of an iPad?
•   problem-solve in math with interactive programs
•   take notes and bookmark with scratchpad features
•   send quizzes and homework to teachers
•   view videos or tutorials on everything from important historical events to learning foreign languages

Also, for those with learning disabilities may learn with visual images not just through speech.

Jay Diskey, executive director of the Association of American Publishers' schools division, said it the best,

“I think one of the real key questions that will be answered over the next several years is what sort of things work best in print for students and what sort of things work best digitally. I think we're on the cusp of a whole new area of research and comprehension about what digital learning means.”

While most use Apple products and software for New York editing projects, video creation, and much much more, students are beginning to be able to use the iPad as a source for learning and interacting with the world around them. Technology can help learning become an easier and more fun process, and only time will tell what other devices will be beneficial.
