Top Tool Co. Adds New, High-End Hard-Milling Technology to In-House Capability

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Precision micro stamping manufacturer Top Tool has achieved a new standard in hard-milling CNC machine technology that sets the company’s in-house tool making capability apart from component parts competitors. A recently installed Makino F5 vertical machining center dramatically advances the Top Tool capability in high-speed, tight-tolerance milling of hard materials.

The ability to precisely machine the hardest tool steels is essential to engineer and produce intricate dies that deliver the advanced features and complex geometries associated with micro and micro-miniature parts. Particularly for today’s medical device and electronics applications. The heart of F5 tight-tolerance performance is a 20,000 rpm spindle that enables the production of small details and fine features utilizing small cutting tools. The F5 also uses control software – developed specifically for tight-tolerance machining of complex, 3-D shapes – that maintains ultra-high accuracy.  The center’s linear positioning accuracy – achieved when the machine moves from one position to another –  is +/- 0.000060 inch (0.0015mm).
