Sartonk Designs and Global Boxing Release New Belt

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Union City and North Bergen, NJ -- Sartonk Designs and Global Boxing are pleased to announce the release of the most recent SARTONK design, commissioned by Global Boxing. This one-of-a-kind belt will be awarded to winners of the People’s Choice awards, a competition that Global Boxing will soon launch for athletes and officials in the boxing industry. Global Boxing is a leading boxing promotional group with a state-of-the-art boxing facility in North Bergen, NJ. It has also instituted the Global Boxing Foundation, which gives European amateurs a chance to come to America to chase their dreams of becoming professional champions.

Mariusz Kolodziej, President of Global Boxing, described his vision for the belt to Sartonk Designs President, Edward S. Majian. “Mariusz’s hope was to combine a warrior’s armor motif with the elegance and richness of older belts in the sport’s history. Our challenge was to capture the expansive feel of something like the John Sullivan, Jr. belt, but produce a belt that could actually be worn,” explained Majian, who was the chief designer of the belt. The Sullivan belt, replicated three decades ago by Majian’s grandfather, Ardash Sahaghian, is a commemorative display belt, and not meant to be worn. “Global Boxing is modern and cutting-edge, but not without a strong sensitivity for the ancient spirit. We can relate to that, and their new design embodies it,” says Majian.

Boxing fans and contenders can expect to see two versions of the new belt in the coming weeks: one bright gold, with hand painting and brilliant stones to highlight the details of the metalwork; the second, intended for the recognition of officials and industry personnel, is antiqued in gold and copper hues. Gold chains link the centerpiece - a shield as elegant as it is fierce - to two lateral plates on either side. The first bears the name of the belt’s recipient, and the second displays the etched profile of an ancient warrior in his classic headgear.

“This belt will definitively settle the issue of who is the best in different categories each year,” said Mariusz Kolodziej. “We want to put the power back in the hands of the fans, where it belongs. The belt is beautifully designed by the absolute best in the industry and is a suitable token for the best of the best in this sport."
