Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Members of The University of Texas at Austin Longhorn Singers kicked off the TX/OU weekend and performed for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) patients, friends and staff. This was the 13th year for the singers to visit the hospital.

Longhorn Singers was founded in 1958 when Dr. Morris Beachy, then head of the Choral Program at UT, decided to combine the Men’s Glee Club and the Women’s Glee Club into one performing ensemble. He envisioned an entirely different kind of group for the University, attracting music majors and non-music majors alike to participate in a type of performance that would convey a new sense of Texas pride on both the University and state level. Now, half a century later, the group has evolved into the well-known official show choir of The University of Texas at Austin.
