Unseen Tours: London’s Street Voices are unique city walks led by homeless guides. Following their hugely successful London launch in August 2010, Unseen Tours have now expanded worldwide and raised significant public awareness of what it means to be a homeless person living in our cities today. Led by homeless guides with their own distinctive styles and life histories, each Unseen Tour has its own personality, uncovering a city’s hidden history and present-day reality from their perspectives. These are tours with a social conscience, appealing to city-dwellers and visitors alike, and anyone who wants to connect with people from different walks of life. Unseen Tours in London provide an alternative and exciting perspective on well-known landmarks such as Shakespeare’ Crucially, the tours also help some of society’s most marginalised people to make a living, as the majority of ticket revenues of directly to the homeless guides themselves. After welcoming thousands of people to our London tours, including schools and corporate groups, Unseen Tours are now being replicated by the Ditto Foundation in Poland, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) in Melbourne, and by social science students in Copenhagen. Unseen Tours in London will also be part of this year’s World Homeless Day on 10th October.
