Sept. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- PRINCETON, N.J. – On October 5, the New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network (NJEN), a non-profit organization providing educational and informational services to entrepreneurs and investors, will host “Strategic Alliances: Partnering for Profit” from noon to 3 p.m. at the Kean University New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics in Union, N.J. The event will feature technology and life-sciences experts in strategic partnerships and give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn how to find the right partner, successfully manage an alliance, and deliver value to their company.

According to NJEN, in a highly competitive global marketplace, success is increasingly being linked to a company’s ability to leverage its partners, supply chains, and other stakeholders to extend operating capabilities; open up new markets; obtain access to additional resources (e.g. technology, talent, etc.); and deliver productivity gains through more flexible models of innovation, research and development – known as “open innovation.” Booz Allen Hamilton notes that strategic alliances are becoming an essential driver of superior growth, and Small Business Notes reports that companies participating in alliances report that as much as 18 percent of their revenue comes from their alliances.

With this in mind, NJEN’s panel of leading partnership and alliance professionals will guide attendees through a discussion with the people who are “making the deals.” With an introduction by Kean University President Dr. Dawood Farahi, “Strategic Alliances: Partnering for Profit” will cover strategic alliances best practices, delivering value, efficient alliance management, finding the right partner, obtaining positive results, and new alliance models (open innovation, contests, corporate venture funds). The roundtable will use a combination of Q&A time and the organization’s unique “reverse venture fair format” in which local entrepreneurs will be able to meet individually with each of the panelists for lunch and after the formal presentations.

Moderated by Mike Wiley, Senior Venture Officer of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Technology and Life Sciences Division, the panel includes Paul Falkenstein, Vice President of Cell Therapy Enablement at Becton Dickinson & Company; Bibhash Mukhopadhyay of the Corporate Office of Science & Technology for Johnson & Johnson; Frank Galuppo, Chief Executive Officer of DAX Technologies; David Erlenborn, Managing Partner of Professional Partnering Services, LLC and the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals; Christian Kopfli, Chief Executive Officer of Chromocell; David Rubin, Senior Director of the Innovation team at Merck; and John Dalton, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Solutions at CACI Technologies and Co-President of the New Jersey Technology Solutions Center.

The event is co-sponsored by the Law Offices of Robert D. Frawley (64 Maple Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960) and the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals. Supporting organizations include Einstein's Alley, the New Jersey Institute of Technology Enterprise Development Center, the New Jersey Technology Council, the New Jersey Business Incubator Network, Innovation NJ, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (Rutgers).

“Strategic Alliances: Partnering for Profit” will be held October 5 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Kean University New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics (1075 Morris Avenue) in Union, N.J. Cost is $45 per person. Pre-register by credit card at www.njen.com or by check mailed to NJEN, 11 Honey Lake Drive, Princeton, N.J., 08540.
