Sept. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Former Peterborough journalist Penny Smith, now a TV presenter and author, is set to join the 15th anniversary celebrations of a city-based charity group.

The NSPCC’s Peterborough Business Support Group is staging a gala night of celebrations to mark 15 years – and almost half a million pounds - of fundraising.

Penny Smith started her career at the Evening Telegraph in Peterborough and has since become a household name as a newsreader and presenter on GMTV.

She will be the after dinner speaker at the Celebration Dinner, scheduled for Thursday, November 10.

“We are delighted that Penny Smith has agreed to be our special guest at the 15th Anniversary Celebration Dinner of the Peterborough Business Support Group,” said Chairman Chris Collier. “We are indebted to so many people for the success of the group over the last 15 years. This event is our way of saying thank you.”

It is hoped the black tie evening, hosted by Heart FM’s Kev Lawrence and being held at the Peterborough Marriott Hotel, will help raise a substantial amount of money for the charity. There will be a raffle and auction on the night as well as a three course dinner.

“If anyone is interested in helping out by donating prizes or lots we’d love to hear from them,” said Chris. “And of course tickets are now on sale.”

The Peterborough Business Support Group is a committee of business people from the Greater Peterborough area dedicated to organising events and encouraging others to raise money in aid of the NSPCC’s work in the city,
