Local Christian-based Medical Home Asks for Online Votes for $50K Grant

Utilizing an online voting system that concludes November 1, The Giving of Life Grant will award 20 grants across the nation totaling $114,000 to the Christian-based, non-profit groups that garner the greatest popular votes.

One local ministry vying for a chance to win up to $50,000 in grant funds is Grace Medical Home. The Orlando-based medical home that supports the low-income, uninsured is accustomed to non-traditional forms of fundraising, with a successful annual potluck dinner that attracts hundreds of community leaders and raises more than $300,000. In the spring, Grace raised $18,695 in one week after a viral video marketing campaign that shared compelling personal stories, dubbed “Faces of Grace,” successfully helped meet a deadline for a match grant.

So it comes as no surprise that Grace’s devote followers have already jumped online to help out. In less than 72 hours, Grace has already collected more than 650 votes at GivingofLife.com. Though the current leader has garnered more than 7,000 online votes, Grace is not fearful of the challenge thanks to the continued support of our local community.

“God has blessed us since the day we announced the formation of Grace Medical Home,” said Dr. Marvin Hardy, the medical director. “By the grace of God, we will continue to do His work and provide the highest quality medical care to the underserved in our community. It takes an army of dedicated individuals, and we couldn’t do it without the support.”

It is Grace’s mission to close the gap between those who enjoy quality healthcare and those who do not.  Since opening its doors in May 2010, Grace has helped more than 1,300 patients in its first year.

Grace is Orange County’s only privately-funded medical home for the low-income, uninsured. Grace patients do not have insurance and the medical home does not receive any third-party billing reimbursement or funding from the federal government to provide its comprehensive services. So grants, like The Giving of Life Grant, have a huge impact on Grace’s ability to continue its mission.

According to the website, The Giving of Life Grant is an opportunity to “eliminate the red tape for ministries, create a way for others to celebrate the care they offer to those they serve, and make it simple for them to apply for the support they need.”
