Sex Hormones Found in Drinking Water, Chicago Tribune Reports

A major media outlet has hinted that birth control hormones have seeped into the Chicago area's water supply. This signals the fallout of fifty years of use of the birth control pill.

Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- In a page-one story, the Chicago Tribune said that it had found trace elements of sex hormones in drinking water, signaling an admission on the part of a major media outlet of the growing danger of birth control hormones in drinking water.

The story mentioned that the city officials found more than two dozen pharmaceuticals that are passing through the city’s water treatment facilities and consumed by seven million people in the city and surrounding suburbs.

The rising specter of birth control hormones in the nation’s water supply has long been known by natural family planning organizations such as the Couple to Couple League, but this may be the first time a major news organization is exposing the fallout of the birth control pill revolution.

Although the Tribune story did not mention the word birth control or contraception by name, it said in its Aug. 7 story that,

“the Tribune found trace amounts of pharmaceuticals, residue from personal care products and unregulated industrial chemicals in local tap water. Substances found in the city’s latest tests include the sex hormones testosterone and progesterone….”

Natural family planning, however, has no chemical threats.
