By: AwareBear I was going to class at RIT at my last year, when I saw the planes hit the World Trade Center. I remember the classes being cancelled for the remainder of the day. That was September, 11th 2001 a day Andre Leite Alves and AwareBear Computers will never forget. http://pdfcast.org/ We were in Rochester NY that day, when the planes hit the Twin Towers and they started burning from the impact and the fuel it got on them from the planes that were hijacked by the terrorists. Our thoughts and prayers were focused on the victims of this terrible attack, their families and the New York City. On September 11, 2001, I went home after I was dismissed from class at Rochester Institute of Technology, called work (Kodak at the time) and found out they were closed as well. That day I stayed home, called family members and RIT alumni friends that were living in NYC at that time says Andre Leite Alves from Pittsford NY. http://artilib.org/ I had plans to go down to NYC with my RIT classmates that year in order to attend a NPPA event (National Photographers Press Association) September 11th 2001 was a gorgeous sunny day in RochesterNY, the weather was also beautiful in NYC. I remember the sun shining and the weather was very pleasant. 911 2001 was a nice fall day. http://www.articlemonkeys.com/ I tried calling my family members in NYC and remember not being able to complete the call. The lines were busy since everyone was calling their family and friends in the big Apple. After a while I was able to call and I was really relieved they were safe. I was told they went to New Jersey by ferry boat when the attacks happened in the lower Manhattan area. http://www.calameo.com/ I remember waking up late that morning; I was out watching football the night before. My classes on Tuesday started at 1 pm so I was able to go out the night before and watch a good football game with friends. After I got up showered and was preparing my breakfast I remember looking at the TV and seeing the 1st building on fire. I could not believe what I was seeing on TV. A couple minutes later the 2nd plane came and struck the 2nd tower. I called my wife at work to talk to her; she told me everything was ok. Many lives were lost that day and we will never forget the horror we have been thru. America still the world’s greatest nation and since the September 11th 2001 we have done some amazing things: Killed Bin Laden, captured and killed Saddam Hussein, helped the people from Iraq and Afghanistan.
