Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Zorbing involves rolling inside a giant inflatable exercise ball made out of soft plastic big enough to fit a person inside.

The extreme sport is just one of the attractions at this year’s festival which
takes place from September 23-25.

The event, run by non-profit organisation MARLENS, is celebrating its seventh year and offers something for the whole family.

“Zorbing is fast gaining a reputation with thrill seekers who are set to visit us from across North Somerset,” said Joe Norman, chairman of MARLENS.

“I’d urge every one to have a go and see what it feels like to “tread” water from a rather unique perspective.”

The festival will offer attractions and entertainment popular in previous years, with music acts and dance troupes, including burlesque dancers.

Charity and commercial sellers will form a ‘village street’ of stalls and there will be a chance to check out vintage cars and take part in dog agility training.

Have-a-go activities include those taking place on the water itself such as model boat racing, sailing, and canoeing.

“This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever and there’s a real buzz of anticipation in the local community,” added Joe.

“The Marine Lake is a sea-front jewel and we are determined to do all we can to ensure it’s there for future generations to enjoy.”

Organisers of the festival’s raft race on Sunday September 25 are still welcoming entries, but only until September 17.

The race which starts at 1pm offers teams of two to six people the chance to compete in home made rafts for cash prizes.

Rafts must be manually propelled across the lake by participants placing a strong focus on teamwork.

Entry forms are available to pick up from the Curzon Cinema and Clevedon Library or email Carol Price at pricecarol@yahoo.co.uk.

The Marine Lake Festival raises funds for much needed repairs to the lake which was built in 1929 a major leisure facility for the town.

It continues to be an asset and historic focus for the local community and is in regular use for teaching sailing and canoe skills to local youngsters.
