It is written by a grieving father, who hopes his daughter’s story will make a difference in reducing the cosmetic surgery death rate. It also notes in the last chapter, titled “The Michael Jackson Impact,” what happens when people seeking justice are not rich or famous, as in the trial of Jackson’s doctor for involuntary manslaughter. “On Sept. 25, 2003, our daughter, Julie Ayer Rubenzer, walked into the Cosmetic Surgery Center in Sarasota, Florida. She did not walk out. This diary records the outrageous events that occurred from that first phone call – to 2011 – the ruling on Julie’s death certificate,” states author Donald W. Ayer.

After three months of suffering, Ayer’s daughter was laid to rest on Dec. 29, 2003. On the advice of their attorney, Ayer and his wife began this journal. In 2005, Florida conducted a licensing hearing in Sarasota, but the Ayers did not receive justice or closure. The senseless loss of their daughter may well help you hold on to yours!
