Fugro Aperio gives seismic reflection demonstration at Near Surface 2011 (UK)

Visitors to the UK geoscience event, Near Surface 2011, will have a rare opportunity to view cutting edge technology for investigation and strategic risk assessment of site development and exploration projects.

Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Fugro Aperio, main sponsors of the conference, will be conducting a live demonstration of its high resolution seismic reflection service for onshore site investigations. Near Surface 2011, organised by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), takes place September 12-14 at the University of Leicester.

Fugro Aperio geophysicists will demonstrate and explain how seismic reflection, more typically associated with offshore hydrocarbon and mineral exploration, can quickly and cost-effectively deliver a range of detailed site characterisation and engineering data enabling risk management of major construction or exploration projects. Such projects may include new build nuclear power plants, geothermal, carbon sequestration, coal bed methane (CBM) and natural gas storage, as well as geotechnical investigations to assess capable faulting for bridges, dams and tunnels, particularly in seismically active regions.

Fugro Aperio will also be demonstrating how a phased geophysical approach using this technology can optimise and improve the costs effectiveness of exploration and geotechnical investigations.

Information on visiting the exhibition and attending Fugro's demonstration are available from Alice Noyes at Fugro Aperio on +44 (0) 870 6008040 or go to http://fugro-aperio.com

Part of the Fugro group of companies, Cambridge-based Fugro Aperio is an established provider of geophysical and geotechnical investigations services for the near surface and built environment.
