Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- According to its patrons and pundits, Le Beaulieu has to be counted among Bangkok's fine dining restaurants, with perfectionist chef Hervé Frerard's commitment to serving authentic French classics prepared with the finest ingredients at affordable prices.

Despite its unassuming location half way up Sukhumvit Soi 19, Le Beaulieu is both intimate and grand. The renowned Parisienne chef Hervé Frerard has created an ambitious menu of haute cuisine that uses the finest imported ingredients, including flavourful soups, main courses and desserts.

Le Beaulieu is arguably the best French restaurant for fine dining in Bangkok, even though chef Hervé claims the cuisine to be more Mediterranean. However, it is mainstream French cuisine with a seating capacity of 45.

If you love French food, you'll devour the seasonal imported grouse and quail, the Maine Lobster baked and slowly cooked in vanilla butter sauce and served with artichoke puree. With dishes like these, Le Beaulieu certainly is a showstopper.

TimeOut magazine explains why the restaurant hosts a sizeable following: "The compact dining room of chef-patron Hervé Frerard, whose deft take on Gallic classics has a loyal following. Hervé tailors sensational signature courses with top-notch ingredients, from braised cheek of veal to sea urchin emulsion. His three-course set lunches are fantastic value."

But if you're someone who wants to try as many things as possible, the chef's specialties include dishes such as Roasted French Bresse Pigeon, Cépes mushrooms and braised endives, orange bitter condiment 2000 starting with the artichoke soup. Highlights also include a plump seared Alaskan scallop with tender braised beef cheeks, bitter endives and a sauce made from beets and an eye-opening course that elevates the humble pumpkin with ricotta mousse and pumpkin sabayon.

But for those who find a hearty lunch a bit too much, The Fast Guide Bangkok found an alternative: "Along with the full menu, Le Beaulieu has one of Bangkok's best selections of imported cheeses, and many people drop in just to enjoy them with a bottle or two in the wine bar, where a spiral staircase surrounded by a honeycomb of shelving combines with a wooden plank ceiling to give an almost rustic feel. It adds a warm, informal ambiance to a super little venue that mixes top-notch dining with French bonhomie."

And Le Beaulieu's wine list is simply legendary, not only for its collection of rare labels but for its eclectic selection of aged vintage wines available at mid-range prices.

Francophile fans go all of aflutter when they think about the fine dining of Le Beaulieu in Bangkok, which remains one of the most effusively extolled restaurants of its kind in the capital.
