Snapline lets online retailers provide product recommendations based on customers' Facebook profiles

Aug. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Snapline, a Philadelphia-based e-commerce solution provider, has launched its eponymous product that allows retailers to provide customers with product recommendations based on a customer’s own demographic and interest information.  Running as a white-label service on online retail sites, customers opt into the service via Facebook Connect and receive tailored recommendations based on the customer’s Facebook profile and shopping history, including: age, gender, interests, location, education, and view and purchase history.

Retailers manage product recommendations via a comprehensive web-based tool.  Within the tool, retailers can both manually define what products should be shown to what customer segments, or configure the recommendation engine to show automatically display recommendations based on a customized set of criteria.  Snapline also includes an analytics engine that tracks effectiveness recommendation campaigns, and tracks what products are popular within what demographics.  Future releases will allow customers to export top product/demographic combinations into Facebook and Google ad campaigns, or into personalized email campaigns.

The company also plans to help retailers bring the power of social shopping to retailer’s online sites.  One such feature allows retail customers to view personalized product recommendations for their Facebook friends, an integration that has appealed to gift retailers and retailers looking for more robust “Send to a Friend” functionality.
