Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Marian L. Thomas, one of Amazon.com’s best-selling rhythm and blues authors, recently released her second novel, “My Father’s Colors.” It has found a home in the "Clean Fiction" genre, which as of today, doesn't exist. The fiction work is a sequel to her first novel, “Color Me Jazzmyne,” which released in February 2009. Both of the authors books carry a common trademark—no foul language or sex.

Without sex or foul language, is it still worth reading? Thomas is ready with her pen and her books to provide the answer. Vocally however, Thomas states, "readers will have to make that determination for themselves— if my books without sex or language is still worth reading. I believe there is still an audience out there that wants and demands clean fiction books. I hope my books bring just that."

Thomas’s novels follow the journey of Naya Monà, a woman who struggles to find herself as she regretfully discovers her father’s past and searches for her daughter. Readers also become familiar with the individual trials of Naya’s husband, Chris; fame-entranced Misty; and Carl, a love-afflicted character introduced in the second book.

Thomas said her books are inspired by real-life situations of marriage, abuse, relationships, friendships and struggles that women, regardless of skin tone suffer. “I use the analogy of a crayon box in my books because as women, we are all made of many different colors. What colors us are our journeys, dreams, emotions and the bumps and bruises in life,” Thomas said.

“Color My Jazzmyne” reached the No. 1 position on Amazon.com’s rhythm and blues best-sellers list and was recognized by Sankofa Literary Society Review as one of the top 100 books. My Father's Colors, reached the No.1 position in Amazon.com's soul bestsellers list.

Thomas will be appearing on the Emerging Writers stage at the Decatur Book Festival, September 4, 2011, 12:10 p.m. A book signing will immediately follow.
