By: APM Public Relations-Angela P. Moore Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Knight began playing saxophone at age 11. His childhood was filled with his dad's John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley albums. While he played the saxophone throughout school, it was at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where he played with Jennifer Holiday and Yolanda Adams. Since then, Knight has played and opened for jazz greats Ronnie Laws, Vesta, Najee, Kim Waters, Steve Oliver, and Marcus Johnson. He received his first big break when he was hired by Producer Norman Connors to play for Angela Bofield and Jean Carne. Knight is well on his way to becoming one of jazz music's most influential saxophonist. Devoted to his art, this passionate sax player made Atlanta Jazz history by becoming the first independent artist to be picked up by a "Radio One" Station (WJZZ/107.5) His first CD received national recognition and aired in over 50-plus cities across the country. In fact, he has played in front of thousands and entertained the crowds with his funky jazz style... He has performed in the 2007 Atlanta Jazz Festival, 2007 Suwanee Jazz Festival, 2005 Atlanta Wings Festival, and Wednesday Wind-Down Series in Centennial Olympic Park (Atlanta, GA) and played for the Atlanta Falcons' games in the Georgia Dome for two years. His latest CD, "Walk Da Walk", is climbing the charts. The CD conveys his personal autobiographical journey. "For me, "Walk Da Walk", is a journey of my testimony that has never ended. I've been battled tested and will emerge stronger and ready for whatever lies ahead. We all have had testimonies and journeys that we've walked and "Walk Da Walk" is my way of conveying my own experience through music," says Knight. When asked how it feels to be going home to play before his hometown, Knight says, “It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that the people that I love and grew up with can embrace the visions and dreams that I’m doing musically.” You can find him blowing his horn on the Atlanta jazz circuit at Encore 2, Landons, Lonzell’s, The Baby Grand Piano Bar, and many other spots.
