Follow on Google News | The Rising Trend for ‘Ultra Modern Collectibles’Following international interest in William and Kate’s Order of Service coming to auction, Fraser’s Autographs expert Dr Best comments on the increasing popularity of ‘ultra-modern collectibles’
By: Louise Reynolds “Our current auction, PA80, contains over 900 lots; from artist signed prints to Royal manuscripts and signed photographs but one lot is attracting more attention from collectors than any other” said Dr Best. “The item bears no signatures and would have been obtained at no cost but is exciting keen collector interest on a global scale.” The item creating so much interest is Lot 277; an original copy of the Order of Service for the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, made a little over two months ago. “We sell historical documents that can be seven hundred years old,” said Best, “but we’ve already had numerous bids and enquiries about this ultra modern item.” “Other recently made collectibles making good money are anything connected with Lady Gaga and props and signed photographs from the Harry Potter movies. We also expect to see a surge in prices for Olympics-related items in the run up to London 2012”. Fraser’s auction PA80 ends on 28th July and is viewable on frasersauctions.com. # # # Stanley Gibbons is the world’s leading name in philately and collectibles, trading since 1856 and holder of the Royal Warrant for stamp dealing since 1914.
