Follow on Google News | Former Clipper Mike Smith Begins His California High School Basketball Camp Tour on June 30Former L.A. Clipper player and long-time Clipper broadcaster Mike Smith spends his summer teaching students about life and basketball at high school basketball camps in southern California.
By: Blvd.K Mike Smith is scheduled to visit at least eleven other high schools and camps in Southern California throughout July and August. When asked about his continuous work with students and basketball camps, he replied, “It is honestly just an effort on my part to reach out to all the high schools in the area to give back or help them in any way that I can.” A former California high school sports star at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, California, Mike Smith won National High School Male Athlete of the Year his senior year after after being First Team All-American in football, basketball and volleyball. He is a member of the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame after a college career at BYU where he was the Western Athletic Conference player of the year and set several basketball records. He played three years in the NBA and five years in Europe, leading the Spanish League twice in scoring and also played with Magic Johnson’s touring team. # # # Mike Smith has worked for the L.A. Clippers as a radio and television analyst for the last 12 years. He speaks fluent Spanish and also does broadcasting for Spanish sports networks. End
