Exclusive Guide to Flooding Launched with Interview with Mary Dhonau

homeprotect launches comprehensive guide offering advice to those living in flood affected areas, and information on what to do before, during and after a flood. In conjunction, an interview with Mary Dhonau was also obtained.

PRLog - Jun. 30, 2011 - KINGSTON UPON THAMES, U.K. -- homeprotect managed to track down the “First Lady of Flooding” Mary Dhonau, and convinced her to answer a few flood-related questions. Mary Dhonau OBE is an independent flood specialist, who took action after her home was flooded on multiple occasions by an irresponsible water company. Mary made an immense impact on flood awareness in the UK as Chief Executive of the National Flood Forum, and she now runs her own consultancy which helps individuals and businesses “prepare for, prevent and reduce” the impact of flooding.

In an interview with homeprotect Mary Dhonau offers some free advice for those who might be affected by flooding, strongly advocating flood resistance and resilience measures amongst other preparedness issues. She speaks briefly about some of the best products available to homeowners today to help protect homes against flood damage, including sand-less sandbags (which Mary describes as “a bit like disposable nappies for giants”, because they can soak-up about 20 litres of water). Mary also draws upon first-hand experiences to explain the merits of flood resistance and resilience measures.

As specialist non-standard insurers, homeprotect have a lot of experience dealing with people who other insurers refuse to cover. One particularly prominent non-standard category is that occupied by those living in areas at moderate to high risk of flooding. Raising flood awareness is a goal that homeprotect shares with Mary Dhonau and the insurance providers have recently released a “Definitive Guide to Flooding” to this end. homeprotect hope that the information contained in the guide will help homeowners understand the risk they face and allow them to take the proper precautions against flooding in the future.

As the heavens opened on the afternoon of Tuesday the 28th of June 2011, homeprotect launched their guide to flooding - http://www.webmoney.co.uk/home-insurance-articles/the-def... - with unplanned synchronicity. homeprotect secured and published an interview with Mary Dhonau - http://www.webmoney.co.uk/home-insurance-articles/floodin... just the day before, just before the Environment Agency “Flood Alert” was issued for the Ravensbourne Catchment. The devastating June floods of 2007 were briefly brought to mind, made especially poignant by Mary’s words.
