June 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Carbondale, Colorado – United States – June 28, 2011 – Solar Energy International has posted summer and fall course dates for their PV101 module to prepare for NABCEP certification in PV renewable energy. The course dates are July 11-15 (Paonia, Colorado), July 18-22 (Boulder), September 26-30 (Boulder), October 3-7 (San Diego), and October 10-15 (Guemes Island, Washington). The fee for each course is $995 and space is limited, so SEI is recommending early registration. Online registration is available on their website. Classes are filling up fast.

“Our PV-101 course is one of the best ways to prepare for NABCEP certification,” said a spokesperson for SEI. “The course that we have available includes information on system components, site analysis, PV module criteria, mounting solutions, safety, and commissioning. The course will also cover the basics of sizing a residential grid-direct system, wire sizing, over-current protection, and grounding. It is considered by many to be the most comprehensive introductory course of its kind.”

Before enrolling for PV101, SEI requires all students to complete a PV101 prep course, which is available online. It is also recommended that students take PV 202 and PV203 before attempting to take the board exams offered by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). The knowledge gleaned from all of these courses combined should give students the information they need to pass the board exam and get ready to work in the field.

“Simply taking PV101 is not enough,” said the SEI spokesperson. “The NABCEP entry level exam includes questions on grid-direct and battery-based PV systems. If students elect to not take PV 203, they will need to spend a significant amount of time independently studying topics related to battery-based systems, in addition to the post-course review recommended by NABCEP.”

In addition to solar energy courses, SEO also offers training and preparation courses for NABCEP wind energy exams and micro hydro training. A number of their courses are available online now, but classroom training is offered at locations in Colorado, Washington State, and California. Online registration is available on their website.
