June 23, 2011 - PRLog -- DETROIT, M.I. – Fuel mileage is in question when most vehicles are looked at for purchase. Chevrolet models like the Volt hit a highly efficient fuel economy, but it is an all-electric vehicle. What about those Chevrolet sedans that are normally gas-powered; how do they stack up against the competition?
The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is one of the newest fuel efficient models that are waiting to be released into the market, and Chevrolet has officially announced the pricing options per trim. The retail price of the Chevrolet Sonic begins at $14,495, which includes the destination charge although excludes taxes and other fees.
The Sonic comes with two powerful engines for owners to choose from which include a standard 1.8L engine or an optional turbocharged 1.4L, depending on the model. The fuel mileage is impressive at 40 mpg highway, and there is more standard equipment and features than most customers are expecting from a sub-compact vehicle.
“Sonic shares the spirit of Chevrolets…by delivering athletic and agile performance,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, in a GM press release. “Today's customers have high expectations for small cars. Sonic comes with an unexpected level of standard equipment so that every customer will have comforts and amenities they desire.”
There are three models to choose from which include the Sonic LS, LT and LTZ. Each model has two body styles either a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback.
Standard and optional equipment include features such as OnStar, heated side mirrors, heated leatherette front seats and a connectivity package with a USB port, Bluetooth capability and steering-wheel mounted controls.
When compared to the 2011 Fiesta Sedan and 2011 Honda Fit, the Sonic has:
•   a bigger standard engine
•   higher horsepower and torque
•   larger passenger and trunk volume
•   10 airbags, which is at least 3 more than others
•   more standard features offered
With all of these extra options available and comfortable price tag, it is possible the Sonic will become a popular choice among the customers looking for the best fuel mileage for their dollar.
