By: Gele Affair After reviewing the runway collections of many top designers, to mention a few, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, and BCBG Max Azria; the colors for summer 2011 are: Orange, White, Deep Purple/Dark Violet, Bright Pink/Neon Pink/Fuchsia, and Lemon. These are the colors in season; however, you have to consider your venue and your complexion to select the color that BEST suites You. The beauty of being the couple or celebrant of the day is that you can pick a color for your "Aso Ebi," decorate in the color scheme and you can wear a different color that may or may not fall in the same color scheme. The truth is, you want to be Unique at your event. Now, on to another burning concern of many people I have spoken to; the issue of "Aso Ebi." We want to believe this initially started on a good note and as the name rightly says, it is attire for the family. However, today, it has become attire for all. It is a wonderful idea to select a gele (Aso-Oke or Damask) and lace for your family (close family friends could be included) and something else for your friends. For example, for a wedding, it was confirmed that the "Aso Ore" is $400, "Yeh Pa, Haba!" and all the friends are expected to buy the attire; honestly it may not be convenient. For the "Aso Ebi," you can select anything you want because your family has waited for over 20 years for this day and are probably willing to spend according to your wish. However, for your friends, "Aso Ore" please let us all be reasonably in our selections, people should not have to make a summer budget on "Aso Ore" or spend as much as a car note in a month and a mortgage for just barely a few events. Your friends want the best and want to support by wearing the "Aso Ore" but for the next wedding, birthday and other celebration, let's minimize the burden and cost to our friends because the economy calls for it and more importantly, all hands are not equal.
