June 16, 2011 - PRLog -- A large crowd was in attendance for fellowship, good food and fun at the Connecticut State Grange's fourth annual Let's Celebrate Day. The family-oriented event was held June 12 at centrally-located Cheshire Grange Hall in Cheshire.

Connecticut State Grange President Jody Cameron was energized by the outcome and support from across the state.  "Cheshire Grange Hall was again close to capacity,"  he said.  "This is yet another example of meeting our members needs by offering excellent programming."

The event featured contest winners and displays in numerous genres, such as needlework, crafts, baking and photography in both adult and junior categories. The Youth and Family Activities Committees of the Connecticut State Grange served a delicious Lasagna Dinner.

The full day of activities began with a non-denominational service by Connecticut State Grange Chaplain Amy Whitcomb.  An afternoon of fun was presented by Connecticut State Grange Lecturer Marge Bernhardt featuring the Talent and “A Number” competitions.  Beth Bradley representing Greenfield Hill Grange in Fairfield won the Talent competition with a beautiful guitar and vocal performance.  The "A Number" winner was from members of Hillstown Grange (East Hartford) representing the county Grange, East Central Pomona.  The number was entitled "Canada Geese."

The many departments and committees of the Connecticut State Grange had worked together for over a year in planning this event.

Cameron commended the committees on their efforts.  "Teamwork is the foundation to a successful event,"  he noted.  "Grange committees are made up of volunteers from all over Connecticut. Each member goes above and beyond in their efforts to advance the programs of the Connecticut State Grange.  This is what makes the Grange as a whole successful."

The Connecticut State Grange has been an integral part of rural and non-rural communities across the state for over 125 years, with nearly 60 local Grange chapters in Connecticut.  Local Granges are committed to bettering their communities through service projects and family orientated activities.
