Pack Up, Gas Up and Stay - Summer Fun in Brown County

June 16, 2011 - PRLog -- NASHVILLE, IN (June 16, 2011) – With a new summer promotion today announced by the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), there is now further enticement to explore the diverse activities, scenic beauty, and quaint charm of Brown County, Indiana.   The “Pack Up, Gas Up and Stay” promotion runs June 17 – August 31, 2011 and features special lodging deals and the chance to win $50 gas cards.

Throughout the summer promotion, special lodging deals are available at www.browncounty.com/coupons.   Coupon codes need to be mentioned at the time of reservation in order to receive the special “Pack Up, Gas Up and Stay” discount, which can be found on each participating business’s coupon, and is based on availability. Visitors to the Brown County CVB’s website can also sign up for the chance to win a free $50 gas card.   A total of five gas cards will be awarded throughout the promotion period.    

“Summer is a perfect time to explore all Brown County has to offer,” said Jane Ellis, Executive Director of the Brown County CVB.  “We’re always a budget friendly destination, but the ‘Pack Up, Gas Up and Stay’ promotion, coupled with a variety of fun events and activities, makes it even more inviting for people – especially families – to experience what makes Brown County such a special place to visit.”

Brown County, with its variety of outdoor activities, eclectic boutiques and galleries, live entertainment and special events, has long been a popular tourist spot.  The summer months are a particularly good time of year for family fun and togetherness.  Outdoor enthusiasts will love Brown County State Park, the largest in Indiana’s state park system.  Hiking, swimming, horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking and wildlife watching are just a few of the many diversions available at the Park.    Families can also zip line at Holler Hoppin’ Zip Lines at the popular Rawhide Ranch; and hike, canoe and play paintball at the Valley Branch Retreat and Paintball Valley.  

Or, spend time in the historic Village of Nashville in the heart of Brown County, where families can hop on board the Little Nashville Express Train; enjoy old-fashioned ice cream and candy shops; pan for gems, fossils and arrowheads at the Copperhead Creek Mining Company; and watch the “Comedy Cabaret on Strings” at the Melchoir Marionette Theatre.   There are also numerous children’s summer camps taking place in Brown County, including the art-based Camp Steele at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site and a children’s horse camp at Rawhide Ranch.

Special events taking place through July include:  Experience Arts in Brown County (June 20 – July 1), Brown County Studio and Garden Tour (June 24 – 26), the Bean Blossom Southern Gospel Jubilee (July 7 – 9), Secret Gardens Tour of Brown County (July 9 – 10), and the Village Art Walk (July 9).
