Obermayer, executive director of the Sales Lead Management Association (SLMA), announced that SLMA is sponsoring a Poetry Challenge for its members (non-members may join for free). Poetry submissions may address the subjects of: sales lead management, marketing ROI, marketing automation or customer relationship management (CRM).  Obermayer said, “This poetry challenge fun is part of our mission to continually bring the message of managing sales leads into the marketplace in different and occasionally humorous ways.   The cartoon series from Stu Heinecke at CartoonLink is also one of those vehicles.  

Obermayer added that the challenge is a chance to entertain the business community with a message about the seriousness of marketing spending, sales productivity, and ultimately the profitability of a company.  “We all have a bit of the poet in us,” Obermayer said, “and whether we write in free verse or blank verse, write a limerick or Haiku, if it’s about CRM and sales lead management it will be amusing and instructional.”

The SLMA asks all submitting “poets” to be creative in their poetry; they can use any form of poetry they like.  If it’s in good taste, the association will publish it.   The rules and guidelines for submitting your poetry (no entry fee) are at the Sales Lead Management Association website.

The SLMA stated that this is not a contest, but contributors of the most interesting and original submissions in each category will be given an Elegant SLMA Coffee Mug (very rare) for their efforts. The criteria for choosing Elegant SLMA Coffee Mug recipients are that each entry be original, amusing and address some truth about sales lead management.  There is no guarantee that an Elegant SLMA Coffee Mug will be awarded, however an Elegant SLMA Coffee Mug could be awarded for each category.

The Poetry must address one or more of the following subjects:
•   Sales Lead Management
•   Marketing ROI
•   Customer Resource Management (CRM)
•   Marketing Automation
