Lake Wylie Pet Resort Hosting “Fun Day” Open House with Dogs, Local Vendors

May 25, 2011 - PRLog -- The summer season boasts many events and activities for humans, but for dogs, the options are typically a bit more limited. Pet owners and their canine companions alike, however, will find welcome at the Lake Wylie Pet Resort’s first “Fun Day” open house, to be held on Saturday, June 4, from noon until 3:00 P.M., in Lake Wylie, South Carolina.

Lake Wylie Pet Resort provides an array of pet boarding, daycare, and grooming services to both the Charlotte and York areas. This “Fun Day” celebration will give regular customers and newcomers alike an opportunity to tour the facilities and witness some of the services offered at the Pet Resort.

There is no admission charge for this event, which is designed to be both informative and entertaining. Tracy Boyle, who manages the Pet Resort and is coordinating the open house event, says the purpose for the day is simply for animal owners to see the facility and have a good time, with or without their pets. There will be some activities for which donations are requested, though. Among the several local vendors who will be on site to provide their services, a professional pet photographer will be on hand to take commemorative shots of pets. Sessions with the photographer are by appointment only, and so Boyle advises pet owners to call in advance.

Donations made for the pet photographs will be given to the York County Animal Shelter. Representatives of the Animal Shelter will be present at the event to talk about their services and also to show off some of their animals. The Pet Resort’s resident grooming team will offer demonstrations of their techniques, with some of the York County rescues as their subjects.

Boyle says visitors can decide for themselves how they wish to enjoy the “Fun Day.” Pets are welcome to attend, but are not required. Likewise, patrons can choose to pay for products or services or simply enjoy the presence of the dogs and the tour of the facilities.

The “Fun Day” event is designed to be a showcase not only for the Lake Wylie Pet Resort’s services, but also those of local vendors. Boyle notes that many “family businesses” from around the Charlotte area will be on site to provide homemade dog treats, hand-crafted dog bows, and more. One of the vendors, Anthony Rosa of Customized K-9 Professional Dog Training, will be on hand to discuss training tactics with visitors and introduce former clients along their dogs to those individuals looking for a solution to canine misbehavior and other "bad-dog" habits.

Boyle stresses that this open house event—the first for Lake Wylie Pet Resort—is intended primarily to offer an afternoon of activities, entertainment, and information for dog owners. The event is strictly not-for-profit. She adds that participants will get the most out of the event if they call in advance to set up appointments for events such as the pet photos, but that no reservation is needed for admission to the event itself.
