Local Filmmakers Showcase and Festival supports Obesity Prevention and Anti-Bullying Programs

Local actors, producers, directors and other industry professionals gather in support of the San Antonio Film Academy's open house, workshop, networking and showcase all culminating in the Short Shorts 4 film festival and after party.
 
May 17, 2011 - PRLog -- San Antonio, TX - The San Antonio Film Academy (SAFA) announced today that it has teamed up with 13th Floor Studios and the Short Shorts 4 Film Festival to host a day long acting and filmmaking event. Join local actors, producers, directors and other entertainment industry professionals as they come together in this SAFA open house, workshop, networking and showcase. All culminating in the Short Shorts IV film festival and after party. $5.00 at the door for the day. Fifty percent of event proceeds will be donated to the Community Sustainability Partnership (CSP) which supports local Obesity Prevention and Anti Bullying programs through its 501c3 status and sponsorships. "Our aim is to raise awareness for the growing San Antonio film and acting community while bringing attention and support to one of the countries biggest health problems, obesity."

Event Schedule:

SAFA OPENHOUSE & ACTING & FILM WORKSHOP 12-Noon – 4:00 PM
The workshop guides students through various styles of training designed to help sharpen acting and film craft skills while being taken through the process of shooting and editing a film scene. Auditing is included with admission / $40.00 to participate.

SAFA SHOWCASE 4 – 7 PM
A mix of live performances including monologue medleys and group scene vignettes drawing on classical and contemporary work from local playwrights, screen writers and poets intermixed with media collected from the Academy’s productions.

SHORT SHORTS IV FILM FESTIVAL 7 – 10 pm
“Declaration of Independents” 10 Films will be selected to decide “CRITIC’S PICK” & “PEOPLE’S CHAMPION” (By audience vote). GUEST Judges: Pablo Veliz, Veronica Hernandez, Dora Pena, Dagoberto Patlan’, Bryan Ortiz, Nikki Young. HOST: Comedian JAMES PONCE. After Party with DJ Dreezy. And, Shaggy Carpet: on camera interview segments by Charissa Jarrett and Lesa Grimmitt
