Shea Homes participates in new homebuying assistance program

May 4, 2011 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGO – Could you use assistance toward a down payment or closing costs on a new home? Shea Homes can help. The builder of several new-home communities throughout San Diego County is now participating in a homebuying assistance program that offers financial grants to prospective homeowners.

The CRHMFA Homebuyers Fund (CHF) Platinum Program is administrated by the National Homebuyers Fund, Inc. and is available through Shea Mortgage. The grants are available to first-time and move up-buyers. The grant can be used toward a down payment or closing costs, and does not have to be repaid.

“When it comes to buying a home, every little bit helps,” said Vanessa Linn, vice president of sales and marketing for Shea Homes San Diego. “We are always scouting for programs and opportunities to assist our buyers. This new CHF Platinum Program has a great deal of potential.”

To be eligible for the CHF Platinum Program, buyers must have a minimum credit score of 620 and occupy the home as their primary residence. The grant can be used toward the down payment and/or closing costs on a 30-year fixed-rate fully authorized FHA, VA or USDA mortgage loan, with the loan amount not exceeding $417,000. In addition to the CHF grant, Shea Homes is helping buyers save in the following ways:

• Buyers are eligible for up to $20,000 to be used toward closing costs.
• FHA buyers are eligible for $0 in closing costs OR interest rate buy-downs.
• VA buyers are eligible for $0 down and $0 in closing costs.
