Public Photo Shoot for Art Project: Walk Together-Columbia University campus, 4/28, 2:00PM

On Thursday, April 28 at 2:00PM the artist, Ronnie Seiden-Moss and assistant, Ruth Nemintoff will be photographing and videoing volunteers on the campus of Columbia University in New York City (116th Street/Broadway, Southeast corner).

Ronnie Seiden-Moss is a painter who is creating her second multi-dimensional art project.

The first project, 52 Portrait Heads, consists of many components including a painting made of 52 portraits which the artist painted at the rate of one per week for a year. The blog/website www.52portraitheads.tumblr.com documents concepts and evolution as it relates to this piece.

Similarly, in Walk Together, a wide variety of people will be selected from photographs taken in public places. Their portraits will be painted on 18 pairs of pre-owned shoes of various styles and sizes.  The shoes will be displayed in 2 converging rows of 9 pairs.  Ronnie Seiden-Moss will paint one portrait a week on one shoe for 9 months.  

The visceral effect of the pre-owned shoe joined with another person's image is meant to connect people and to honor both their uniqueness and sameness.  Time, mortality, difference, inclusion, similarity and more are primary concepts.
