Earth Day Event - Long Island Pine Barrens

April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- A Tree Planting Project began last week to improve the Long Island Pine Barrens. The project has two goals. One,  to dig out pitch pines to maintain an old field for grassland birds and other wildlife. Two, to create a scenic buffer between residential development and a scenic roadway.

Sponsored by the Protected Lands Council which is a collection of agencies, groups, and individuals involved in the conservation and stewardship of the Long Island Pine Barrens.
